Ever since I can remember I always dreamed of living on the west coast. I pictured my life by the ocean with the tall grass and the sounds of waves in the background. In this daydream I would always be barefoot with unbrushed wispy hair flowing in the wind. I don’t know how lighting struck twice but after living abroad in Europe the army sent us to live in probably the most gorgeous state I’ve ever been in; Washington. Within a span of an hour you can be at the coast, you can get lost in the woods, look up to the mountains, trek through the rainforest, and camp in the desert.

Back in Februray I photographed this gorgeous mommy and me session at Chambers Bay overlooking the puget sound in Tacoma. We lucked out and had the first actual sunset golden hour of the year and two days after this it snowed like crazy and then we didn’t see sun for months. Lifestyle sessions have really turned into my favorite genre to photograph lately. I love getting to capture the real moments, the raw moments. This is real life, sometimes kids don’t cooperate, sometimes weather isn’t on our side, theres so many factors that can come into play. Ive come to terms that those things don’t matter as much as capturing connection and bonds, thats what your going to want to look back on years later when the kids are all grown.
