There is a small timeframe when the heavens open up and you can walk right up to what seems like the top of Mount Rainier. The wildflowers bloom, the light gets golden, and it makes 9 months of rain absolutely worth it. The Slater family who I actually first photographed when we were both stationed in Italy met me up at paradise (thats actually what this part of the national park is called ) one summer evening and we created this magic.
